How Often To Post Your Small Business Blog

Original content is an integral part of any marketing plan and a regular blog is a proven method to bring traffic to your website, generate leads and lend credibility to your company.  Search engines are on the lookout for new content and it will help your position in searches.

Big companies might assign their PR Agency to craft their blogs and mega-corporations might employ an in-house communications team to handle their writing needs.  For them, a daily blog is a realistic and manageable goal.  But for small businesses without these resources, how often should you blog?

Depending on your business goals and the type of company, you should probably commit to post a new blog at least once a week.  If possible, try for 2-3 times per week.  According to a survey of 7,000 customers by Hubspot, the more posts, the more traffic.

…companies that blog 15 or more times per month get 5X more traffic than companies that don’t blog at all. And if you’re a small business, increasing your blogging frequency can move the needle even more…small businesses (1-10 employees) tend to see the biggest gains in traffic when they publish more articles.  Hubspot Blog

There is a caveat, however.  Don’t post garbage just to post something.  Come up with a manageable blog schedule to produce quality posts and stick to your schedule.  A daily blog might not be manageable for a small business, but can you handle 2 or 3 times a week?  Whatever you do, don’t commit yourself to an impossible schedule.  If once a month is all you can grasp, then once a month it is and perhaps work up to something more.
